Pieter-Jan Keleman graduated as MSc Biology: Human Ecology at the Free University of Brussels (BE) in 2018. Currently, he is a PhD student at the School of Agronomy of the University of Lisbon (PT). He is a scholarship holder within the EU-funded DeSIRA-Malmon project: Mangroves, mangrove rice, mangrove people: sustainably improving rice production, ecosystems and livelihoods. His main fields of research are: genetics, biodiversity conservation and local development, ecosystem services and ethnobiology. His PhD project focuses on the ethnobiology of mangrove aquatic biodiversity and its uses by local communities in Guinea Bissau.
